Waxing with Sugar
The Egyptians have used this technique since the time of the pharaohs. It is one of the most effective solutions to shave because it also acts as a natural exfoliant. Common ingredients used for this method: water, sugar and lemon.
Ingredients: 1 cup sugar, 1 pc. yellow lemon, You can add water if the lemon does not dilute the sugar.
Preparation: In a saucepan, put sugar and lemon juice. Use water if necessary to cover the sugar. Put the mixture over low heat. Stir constantly. Let the mixture cook until the sugar is completely dissolved. The mixture has to reach from 234 to 240 degrees Fahrenheit (112 to 115 ยบ C). As soon as you reach this temperature removes the pan from the heat.
To see if it has reached the right point: put a little bit of the mixture with a spoon and place in cold water, if it forms into a soft ball, then it is ready. You can also use a food thermometer to make it easier. Once the mixture is cool it should form like a gelatinous paste. When the mixture is cool enough, you can proceed to waxing.
